  • Lift UP Panelist: Amy Parchen, ‘been there’...

Currently three years into her corporate "re-entry", Amy brings renewed energy and perspective to her role as HR Business Partner at Hartford Steam Boiler/ MunichRe. Amy developed professional skills in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, and Change Management through her initial 10 year career in HR, including roles such as HR Business Partner, Training Manager, and Organizational Development Consultant with a large bank and a manufacturer. After having her third child, Amy opted out of the corporate world. Over those next ten years, while raising her kids and relocating three times with her family, she leveraged opportunities to reinvent herself and keep her professional skills sharp – as the director of a nonprofit, a school teacher, a salesperson, and a career coach. Prior to her relaunch, Amy was also very active in community organizations, including serving on the Canton Economic Development Agency and serving as President of Canton Main Street, Inc. Amy lives in Canton, CT with her husband, Bill, and is preparing to be an empty-nester next year. Her advice for those facing this transition is be prepared that there will be challenges to “get back in”, but don’t apologize for making choices based on your family’s needs. Remember there is development and opportunity in every situation, and chances are you’ll be building transferable skills that you can use to tell your story. #skillset #returntowork
