Return Women to...Banking, Insurance, FinTECH, Law, HR and Marketing

Join us to empower women returning to work in Banking, Insurance and the FinTECH sectors. Shifts in customer needs, demographic changes, and evolving market demands call for fresh approaches to talent and skills. At Untapped Potential, we see an opportunity to bring experienced professionals back into these sectors, especially those who stepped away during caregiving years. Our upcoming event is designed to connect forward-thinking business leaders with in-demand talent.

About the Event

Our virtual event will focus on the banking, insurance, fintech industry, while also covering the fiduciary functions of law, HR, and marketing. The sector of Financial Services has benefited from diversifying its traditional workforce to more closely mirror its clients. We want to provide a solution to the challenge of retiring baby boomers in insurance and the fast growth of financial services jobs.

Here in Connecticut we have long been one of the main insurance capitals of the world. From an article published online by the New England Council written by Andrew Larson of the Hartford Business Journal, "A 2024 study by Conning and data firm Lightcast found that Connecticut ranks first nationally in insurance jobs as a percentage of total employment, at 3.43%, with roughly 56,000 insurance and related full-time employees. The state also ranks first in insurance as a percentage of gross state product, contributing 4.8%, or $17.61 billion, to Connecticut’s economy."

Our state government is committed to keeping that market leadership strong and encouraging opportunity and innovation in the sector. Read about the marketing campaign designed to keep here!

Women, who often leave these traditionally male-dominated fields during caregiving years, represent a significant pool of talent ready to return and poised to contribute to innovation. Our return-to-work event invites businesses to submit their needs and meet professionals eager to re-enter the workforce. Attendance is free for those who share their business needs, making it a practical opportunity for both sides.

The industries involved—banking, insurance, fintech, law, HR, and marketing—are all facing unique challenges that require fresh thinking and diverse perspectives. Bringing back experienced professionals who understand these sectors but would benefit from flexible, supportive environments can help companies innovate and grow.

Connecticut is poised to support innovation in the financial services sector. From an October Industry Insights report by AdvanceCT we find that:

The Connecticut fintech industry builds on the state’s established financial services sector. Global firms such as Bridgewater Associates, Synchrony, and AQR Capital Management anchor a network that also includes fintech companies like SS&C Technologies, Banking Circle US, iCapital, and Numisma Bank. This existing ecosystem provides fintech companies with access to strategic partnerships, experienced talent, and a client base familiar with advanced financial services.
Unlike other Northeast states and major cities, Connecticut combines scale with accessibility. Firms can integrate into a financial sector with a global reach without the barriers and costs associated with New York or Boston. This balance of connectivity and efficiency has become a central factor in fintech investment decisions."

This event is designed to be a win-win, creating meaningful connections that lead to lasting partnerships.
