The Screening of "No Country for Mothers" hosted by StoryB in partnership with West Hartford Public Library and the Town of West Hartford's Office of Employee Development & Community Engagement.

The evening will include a screening of the documentary followed by a facilitated conversation connecting the film’s themes to the lived experiences of mothers, caregivers, and women navigating work and family in Connecticut.

Meet the speaker of the post-view Discussion following the documentary viewing: Amanda Aronson.

Amanda is driving change for women internationally through her work as Strategic Consultant for Non-profits. Her most recent endeavor as a Producer, Director + Field Documentarian | Women's Work by StoryB. Women's Work is an international documentary fieldwork project documenting women's collective economic power across six field sites in four countries: Peru, India, Spain, and the United States.

Amanda is a long time Untapped Potential Mentor, an advocate for women and is the driving force behind the Women's Work Project. We have had the opportunity to host Amanda as a guest speaker for Untapped Potential's Lift Each Other UP Panel Event in the past.

We are excited that Amanda is bringing the viewing of this Documentary to Hartford, CT.

About the Film

The film explores the culture wars surrounding American motherhood and why both the "girl boss" and "trad wife" labels ultimately distract us from the real issue: the lack of support for American families.

Following activist Reshma Saujani, the film charts a growing national movement to reunite moms across divisions and win the kind of historic support families actually need. The film is part of the American Motherhood Tour and a growing movement to support moms in America.

A timely topic. At Untapped Potential, we historically have been working to solve “caregiving gap,” the years many women spend away from paid work while raising children, caring for elders, or supporting a loved one with illness. We know this time does not erase skills, ambition, or professional value. But we also know that the larger system, especially the lack of affordable, accessible childcare and family support, makes returning to work far harder than it needs to be. This is why No Country for Mothers, a new documentary on modern motherhood in America, feels so deeply connected to our mission.
