We'll be networking at the upcoming United Way | Women United Event: Power of the Purse!

The Power of the Purse offered by United Way | Women United helps women and families achieve financial security, a cause that’s more critical than ever in today’s environment. As challenges and uncertainty continue to grow, so does the needs of those in our community - particularly women. I love the organizations tag line "Women United against poverty".

If you have never been, this event (affectionately referred to as “POP”) is an exciting opportunity to network with nearly 1,000 area professionals while supporting a cause important to our mission at UNTAPPED POTENTIAL – financially empowering local women and their families. We have had fun at past events and even launched #womenreturners to their career potential from key introductions at the event. There is a silent auction where you can bid on purses, gifts, jewelry, experiences and more! Plus, a delicious lunch and an inspirational program where you can learn how funds raised make a lasting impact in the Central and Northeast region of Connecticut.

Event Keynote Speakers:

Andrea Elliott is a prize-winning journalist, investigative reporter for The New York Times, and author of Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival, and Hope in an American City.

Dasani Coates is a writer and a subject of Invisible Child, and a powerful voice for resilience, equity, and hope.

In addition to the keynote speakers, you'll hear from POP2025 Co-Chairs Julia Johnson Brinson and Tara Linton who have prepared an exciting program to include networking opportunities and the thrill of bidding on the coveted auction items. Attendees will also learn about the needs of the community that United Way serves and the work and dedication of Women United.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m: Pre-Event Networking and Silent Auction

Meet your Untapped Potential Mentor, make meaningful career connections, and explore auction items—featuring donated designer purses filled with purpose.

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m: Main Event and Luncheon

An inspiring afternoon of storytelling, community giving, and actionable ways to advance women’s economic empowerment.

Mentorship, Career Support & Networking

Attendees make a direct impact—supporting programs that uplift individuals in need as well as impacting gender equality in work by supporting #returners with mentorship and professional connection.

Untapped Potential Inc.'s founder is honored to return as a Table Captain for the 4th year! The event provides both networking for both mentors and candidates as well as way to celebrate our launchers. We align our programming with Power of the Purse because it supports:
