Namakula, our "Returner"
Like many of us that "opted-out", Namakula has a lot of value to bring! She
gained years of experience in laboratory settings
has logged hours (no years!) volunteering in "Professional-type" roles to support our communities and schools
Post COVID, now is the time to get back-to-work!
Namakula Edwards
Bioscience Professional
Namakula is a bioscience professional with laboratory experience in food sciences, environmental resource analysis and pre-clinical trials. Her goal is to return-to-work applying her strong analytical skills to further science.
During her opt-out years, she has grown professionally, taking on roles within the PTO, becoming a Parent Senate Member & Co-chair, while leading curriculum subcommittees in support of Connecticut’s CREC Magnet Schools. She is most proud of her achievement, raising her daughter to be strong in STEM and advocating for other students in their pursuit of a STEM education.
She lives with her husband and their fifteen year-old daughter, a 10th grader at CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering. She is also mom to her adult daughter, who works in the corporate world in the Midwest. She decided to opt-out when she was suddenly faced with the unique challenges of balancing work, while raising her then teenage daughter and a newborn. Namakula has been her family’s primary caregiver and is excited to rejoin the workforce.
Namakula joins our panelists and will share her aspirations for work-life success!
