Next Chapter Success Starts Here
Updated: 5 hours ago

What does your next chapter look like?
For some people, it means returning to work after time away. For others, it means moving into a new industry, finding work that better fits their life now, or simply reconnecting with the confidence they once brought to their career. Change can feel daunting, but it can also be an opening to reinvent, reassess, and move toward work that feels meaningful.

That belief is at the heart of Next Chapter Success, the Seniors Job Bank's free career-readiness workshop series. Untapped Potential is excited to partner with them on their fall series which begins next Tuesday, September 15, at the Farmington Main Library. It's designed for experienced professionals navigating a career transition, whether they are returning after a gap, considering a pivot, or seeking a more purposeful next step. The three-day series covers the practical tools that help people move forward, including resume coaching, interview skills, computer literacy, workplace readiness, communication, networking, and goal setting. It concludes with a networking event on Day 3.
A Shared Mission
Untapped Potential and Seniors Job Bank share a simple but powerful conviction: experience is an asset.
Untapped Potential works with professionals whose careers have been sidelined or reshaped by caregiving. Seniors Job Bank supports adults age 50+ as they seek employment, new direction, and continued participation in the workforce. While our communities may arrive at transition from different places, the challenges often overlap. Both groups can encounter hiring bias, uncertainty about how to position their experience, unfamiliar digital tools, or the feeling that the workforce has changed while they were focused elsewhere.
Neither organization sees those experiences as a deficit. We see resilience, perspective, reliability, and developed skills that employers need. Seniors Job Bank connects experienced workers with employers throughout Greater Hartford who value those strengths, while its Next Chapter Success initiative expands that support through coaching, job-readiness training, and skills development for today’s labor market.
Meaningful Work Matters

Robin Clare, Executive Director of Seniors Job Bank, brings a grounded and human perspective to this work. In a reflection on meaningful employment on LinkedIn, she shared a conversation that has stayed with her and provides for her mission. A candidate told her he was not simply looking for a job. He was looking for a reason to get up in the morning.
Work can provide income, but it can also offer connection, routine, contribution, and a renewed sense that your experience still matters. For someone returning after caregiving, retirement, underemployment, or another major life transition, the question is often bigger than, “What job can I get?” It becomes, “Where do I belong now?” and “How can I use what I know in a way that fits this stage of my life?”
Next Chapter Success creates space for those questions. It also provides practical next steps. Participants will learn how hiring has changed, including skills-based recruitment and flexible work trends. They will work on resumes that highlight results and transferable strengths. They will practice communicating their value in interviews and build confidence using the digital and professional tools that support a modern job search.
